8 Project Performance Domains
8 Performance Domains là nhóm các hoạt động liên quan đến nhau, phối hợp với nhau để đạt được kết quả mong muốn của dự án. Chúng hoạt động đồng thời xuyên suốt vòng đời dự án.
Khác với 12 Principles (là nguyên tắc chỉ đạo), 8 Performance Domains mô tả những gì PM cần quản lý. Chúng không phải là quy trình tuần tự mà là các khu vực hoạt động song song, tương tác lẫn nhau xuyên suốt dự án.
👥 1. Stakeholder Performance Domain
Activities and functions associated with stakeholders. Effective stakeholder engagement leads to: shared understanding of project outcomes, meeting project objectives, and better stakeholder satisfaction.
Key activities: Identify stakeholders, analyze their needs/interests/influence, develop engagement strategies, communicate regularly, manage expectations.
Desired outcomes: Productive working relationship, stakeholder agreement on project direction, beneficiaries engaged and satisfied.
Các hoạt động liên quan đến stakeholders. Tương tác stakeholder hiệu quả dẫn đến: hiểu chung về kết quả dự án, đáp ứng mục tiêu dự án, và sự hài lòng stakeholder tốt hơn.
Hoạt động chính: Xác định stakeholders, phân tích nhu cầu/lợi ích/ảnh hưởng, phát triển chiến lược tương tác, giao tiếp thường xuyên, quản lý kỳ vọng.
🤝 2. Team Performance Domain
Activities and functions associated with the people responsible for producing project deliverables. Encompasses leadership, team development, and enabling high performance.
Key activities: Build shared culture, define team roles, develop team skills, manage performance, resolve conflicts, promote servant leadership.
Desired outcomes: Shared ownership, high-performing team, applicable leadership demonstrated, trust and collaboration.
Các hoạt động liên quan đến những người chịu trách nhiệm tạo ra deliverables. Bao gồm lãnh đạo, phát triển nhóm và tạo điều kiện hiệu suất cao.
Hoạt động chính: Xây dựng văn hóa chung, xác định vai trò, phát triển kỹ năng, quản lý hiệu suất, giải quyết xung đột, thúc đẩy servant leadership.
Team backend có 8 developers ở VN và 3 ở PH. Team Performance Domain yêu cầu bạn: tạo working agreements cross-timezone, build psychological safety để ai cũng dám raise blockers, và đảm bảo knowledge không bị silo theo location.
🔄 3. Development Approach and Life Cycle Performance Domain
How the product/service/result will be developed and the life cycle. Choice between predictive, iterative, incremental, agile, or hybrid approaches based on project variables.
Cadence types: Fixed schedule, iterative (revisit and refine), incremental (build and release pieces), agile (continuous feedback loop).
Desired outcomes: Appropriate lifecycle chosen, development approach appropriate for deliverables, phasing enables review/adapt.
Cách phát triển sản phẩm/dịch vụ/kết quả và vòng đời dự án. Chọn lựa giữa predictive, iterative, incremental, agile hoặc hybrid dựa trên các biến số dự án.
Loại cadence: Lịch cố định, iterative (xem lại và tinh chỉnh), incremental (xây và phát hành từng phần), agile (vòng feedback liên tục).
📋 4. Planning Performance Domain
Activities and functions associated with initial, ongoing, and evolving organization and coordination. Planning is not a one-time event but continuous throughout the project.
Key activities: Scope, schedule, cost, quality planning; stakeholder communication planning; risk planning; procurement planning.
In Agile: Planning at multiple levels — release planning, iteration planning, daily planning. Embrace changing requirements.
Các hoạt động liên quan đến tổ chức và điều phối ban đầu, liên tục và phát triển. Lập kế hoạch không phải là sự kiện một lần mà là liên tục xuyên suốt dự án.
Hoạt động chính: Lập kế hoạch scope, lịch trình, chi phí, chất lượng; lập kế hoạch giao tiếp; lập kế hoạch rủi ro; lập kế hoạch mua sắm.
⚙️ 5. Project Work Performance Domain
Activities and functions associated with establishing project processes, managing physical resources, and fostering a learning environment. This is the day-to-day execution of project work.
Key activities: Manage processes, handle communications, manage procurement, maintain project team, apply knowledge.
Desired outcomes: Efficient and effective project performance, appropriate processes in use, continuous improvements happening.
Các hoạt động liên quan đến thiết lập quy trình dự án, quản lý nguồn lực vật chất và thúc đẩy môi trường học hỏi. Đây là việc thực thi hàng ngày của công việc dự án.
🚀 6. Delivery Performance Domain
Activities and functions associated with delivering scope and quality. Ensures requirements are defined, managed, and that deliverables meet acceptance criteria and align with strategic objectives.
Key activities: Define requirements, manage scope, deliver value incrementally, validate deliverables, manage product/solution quality.
Desired outcomes: Project deliverables contribute to business goals, project contributes to benefits realization.
Các hoạt động liên quan đến deliver scope và chất lượng. Đảm bảo yêu cầu được xác định, quản lý và deliverables đáp ứng tiêu chí chấp nhận, phù hợp với mục tiêu chiến lược.
📊 7. Measurement Performance Domain
Activities and functions associated with assessing project performance and taking appropriate actions to maintain acceptable performance. Uses metrics to evaluate progress and performance.
Key activities: Establish metrics (KPIs), measure deliverable quality, measure team performance, use EVM for schedule/cost, forecasting, dashboards.
Key metrics: SPI, CPI, BCWP (EV), BCWS (PV), ACWP (AC), quality metrics, team velocity (Agile).
Các hoạt động liên quan đến đánh giá hiệu suất dự án và hành động phù hợp để duy trì hiệu suất chấp nhận được. Sử dụng metrics để đánh giá tiến độ và hiệu suất.
Metrics chính: SPI, CPI, EVM, velocity (Agile), quality metrics, KPIs.
Project Alpha theo dõi: velocity (story points/sprint), bug escape rate, API response time (SLA với Bank Partner A), deployment frequency, và DORA metrics. Đây chính là Measurement Performance Domain trong thực tế kỹ thuật.
🌊 8. Uncertainty Performance Domain
Activities and functions associated with risk and uncertainty. Risk exists on a spectrum: known risks (identifiable), unknown risks (can't predict), ambiguity (lack of clarity), complexity (dynamic systems).
Key activities: Risk identification, analysis (qualitative + quantitative), risk response planning, risk monitoring, opportunity exploitation.
Desired outcomes: Risk awareness, known risks evaluated, contingency reserves in place, opportunities realized.
